Nope, I haven't been around a campfire recently. I wish.
But on Sunday in Elders quorum we talked about Elder Gongs talk, "Our campfire of faith".
Which got me thinking about all the millions of different analogies and gospel principles there are that can be compared to a campfire.
One of my favorite things to do when sitting around a steady campfire is to place the end of a stick in the campfire until it ignites. After it ignites I then pull it away from the coals and watching it slowly burn out.
This can be easily related to testimonies. When I was younger I didn't always have my own steady campfire but because I had parents who did I could ignite my testimony and rely on theirs to keep mine lit.
Without my own campfire and my own spiritual coals there's no way I could have kept my fire going had my testimony or stick been pulled away from my parents fire.
I now have my own fire~my own testimony, and my own spiritual coals but that's not the point. The point is my parents had already developed and built their spiritual fires and because of that they over time were able to help me to desire the warmth of my own personal fire with my own foundational coals.
As people who have built and established our own spiritual fires we have a sacred opportunity and in many ways an obligation to help those around us who are in darkness.
We have the opportunity to share the gospel. In preach my gospel there is a quote by President Howard W. Hunter that says... “What does the Atonement [of Jesus Christ] have to do with missionary work? Any time we experience the blessings of [the Savior’s] Atonement in our lives, we cannot help but have a concern for the welfare of [others]. … A great indicator of one’s personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others”
Where are you at in your personal conversion?
What can you do to help others build there own spiritual campfires?
How can you share the light you have with those in darkness?
I love this gospel of Jesus Christ, I know that the fullness of the gospel has been restored to the Earth today. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I know that Joseph Smith saw our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.
As a missionary I invite people to do things everyday.
As a missionary, my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ.
I invite everyone who reads this to share their spiritual fire with others.
If you're at a place in life where you don't have a spiritual fire and you want everlasting peace warmth and joy, email me and I will tell you how simple and easy it is to get one. :)

Last week was awesome as far as finding people who said we could come back and share our message. We knocked on two people's doors that said we could go back and we met a lady on the street that said we could go back and teach her.
We also met a father of two who when we knocked on his door, told us we could come back on Saturday. When we went back to his house, we taught him and his wife the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was so awesome the spirit was super strong! The coolest part was when we started quoting the first vision when God the Father and Jesus appeared to Joseph Smith, the sun came out and the room filled with light and then when we finished quoting the first vision the sun went back behind the clouds.
It. Was. Cool.
We also knocked on the door a young single mother of idk how many but we have a return appointment with her for tomorrow and I am so pumped for that.
Wednesday we met this awesome guy who is so prepared to receive the gospel!
He literally works everyday for 12 hours but we have taught him twice since Wednesday and he is reading the Book of Mormon! He said the next Sunday he has off he is coming to church.
That's about it haha being a missionary is literally the best thing everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
We were going to go hiking today but the weather didn't permit it so we went to a really cool Catholic Abbey in Mt. Angel.
Somehow we managed to get our hands on a free deep fryer
so we made corndogs and deep fried Oreos :)
